Beaufort Golf Course Manager Tim Thompson has been at Churchtown Estate since this Kerry golf course was built in 1993-1994. It first opened for play in 1995 as a par 71, 18 hole golf course. The new owners have put major investment into the golf course and completed significant remodelling and upgrading works over the past two years. These works included the installation of lakes, the development of new holes, new tee-boxes, mounding, planting and the installation of a water sprinkling irrigation system for the greens and tee-boxes. Thompson commented, "We are very proud of what we are achieving here in Beaufort Golf Course.'
Tom Mackenzie of Mackenzie Ebert - Leading International Golf Architects was commissioned in early 2007 to complete a full redesign of the golf course. Their brief was to raise the standard of the playability of the course, bring it up to championship design level to meet the needs of the range of golfers who play Beaufort throughout the year and eventually gain reputation among the best of Ireland Golf Courses.
Tom said, "All golfers love to play golf in beautiful places and Beasfort sits rightfully amongst Ireland's most scenic courses overlooking the spectacular McGillycuddy Reeks. We have tried to make full use of the site's natural resources in our renovation programme and feel sure that the resort will establish itself as a firm favourite for players of all levels."
